Samantha Staves

After earning a BFA from the University of Lethbridge in 2009, I moved to Calgary where I have maintained an active presence in the arts community. My practice is comprised of photography and installation, dealing with ideas of identity and gender, primarily focusing on external environments and their effects on notions of gender.

Luminous Bodies presents an opportunity for me to focus on the body, the self and the other, and the interaction at play between them. I will expand on the focus of my practice, with the goal of forming new connections and concepts through critical analysis.
