I try to capture a feeling and bring it to the front of my mind when creating. My main focus is portraiture. When taking pictures I try to focus in on the subject, making sure they feel grounded. Digging deep in the soft and feminine aspects of photography have really driven my work. I hope to explore more of a mind/body connection here ast Luminous Bodies.
Within my time at Luminous Bodies I intend to explore presence in the body. I feel often disconnected from my own body, like I’m watching my life happen before me rather than experiencing it. I plan on using self portraiture to really see myself and what I look like. To feel a full mind body connection and even to see a fractured disconnection. My other goal is to talk to other artists in residency and ask about their practice of presence. I hope to document how they prepare for the day and how we experience life as humans, bound by our own bodies.
